Benji joined us recently and he is now ready for adoption.

Benji is 5-month-old Shih Tzu type who came to us after being sold on Gumtree as his original older owners couldn’t cope with his puppy energy. Sadly, he ended up in an unsuitable home, as is often the case when you sell your dog to strangers, which resulted in him being on a Facebook selling site a week or so later. We offered to take Benji, but his new owner wanted money for him and it was only two weeks later when she couldn’t sell him that she came back to us asking for help as she was being evicted.

I tell owners time and time again that so many dogs are passed from home to home when being sold on selling sites, but it most often falls on deaf ears. Thankfully Benji is one of the lucky ones.

Benji is a lovely, happy little boy who needs a similar-sized (similar energy) neutered dog in his forever home. He loves to play with doggy playmates and enjoys lots of rough and tumble!

Benji has been fully vaccinated and vet checked, but will need to stay local to the rescue to be neutered (paid for in full by the rescue). These areas are Derby, Nottingham, Burton and Stoke.

Benji hasn’t been around children while in foster and we were told he doesn’t like children by his last owner, though we aren’t sure how fully this was assessed. He has certainly shown no aggression at all whilst in foster care. We would be happy to place Benji with children of 10+ to err on the side of caution.

Benji isn’t cat tested so will need a cat-free home.

Benji is a lovely, funny little character and a real cutie!

He is in foster in Nottingham.
