Shadow is now ready for adoption. Here is his foster-mum’s write-up…
“Shadow is a dog we will really really miss!
He is such a lovely dog, eager to please, boundless energy (he’ll play ball all day long). He’s very well trained and won’t try and come upstairs or sit on your furniture unless invited.
He barks at other dogs when on a lead but when off the lead, he just wants to say hello and is rather enthusiastic and boisterous but not aggressive.
With each day that passes, we love him more. He loves to snuggle up and cuddle. Loves to have his coat combed and didn’t even mind a full hosepipe wash on day one! He just loves a rub with a towel and keeps coming back for more until he’s jumping in your arms!
We don’t hear a peep from him at night. He sleeps in his bed downstairs quite happily.
He’s toilet trained, we’ve had no accidents.
We don’t have a cat but he’s shown no interest in them while out. He wanders past horses and cows in fields and again shows no interest.
He will make someone a wonderful loyal companion.
He needs plenty of exercise but happy to run off, play ball etc. and has great recall. He loves to go out and is good on car journeys and he’s also very happy to come home! We’ve let him off the lead often, knowing he’ll come running right back to us and he always keeps us in sight. He loves water and swims wonderfully to fetch his ball.
Shadow is a very handsome dog who attracts lots of attention. However, he’s very nervous with strangers and growls. We’ve learnt that if they ignore him rather than trying to stroke, he will approach them when he feels safe. He’s improving with this each day and just sometimes gets overwhelmed if there’s too many people at once trying to approach him.
He loves his food but not in a typical lab style. He’s only been with us 2 weeks but is very trusting and loyal.
He’s ok left on his own and is extremely happy when we get back!”
Shadow is 4 years old.
Shadow has never lived with children, but was said to be good with visiting children in his previous home.
Shadow will need to stay local to Derby, Nottingham, Burton or Chesterfield for his second vaccination and castration.
