Snoop (original Chocolate Chip) came to us from a Newcastle pounds several weeks ago. It was noted at the pound that Snoop may have some neurological issues as he was ‘wobbly and unstable’ plus he was also found to have a heart murmur and was badly in need of a dental as he had horrific dental decay.
Snoop has had many vet appointments, tests and scans and is we are now at a stage where his investigatory and routine vet care is complete. He is only said to be 11 years old according to his microchip, but his mobility is more like that of an older dog. We believe Snoop was probably in a car accident that has left him with weakness in his back legs due to some permanent spinal damage. He is therefore on long-term neuropathic pain relief, which is making him so much more comfortable and able to move around more easily.
Snoop’s dental was done soon after he arrived (with him needing 21 teeth removed), he has had a heart scan to rule out any cardiac issues following initial concerns (thankfully fine) and he has had successful treatment for double ear infections.
Because Snoop has been in foster for so long, because he is a little incontinent as he sometimes doesn’t know when he needs to open his bowels until the last minute, because he is very slow and sometimes wobbly on his legs….but mainly because we just couldn’t find a more perfect home for him to live out his days, his foster-mum has very kindly agreed to keep Snoop as a permanent/long-term foster under our care.
Snoop is one of the luckiest boys to have found such a lovely home, with a wonderful foster-mum to care for his every need. Despite his health issues, he is the sweetest, most gentle and contented boy you could meet and we are so glad he found us and we found him so that he will always be loved and safe.
