Roxy is a black Labrador and she is now around 6 months old. Roxy is a typical pup, who is very inquisitive, has a lot to learn and a lot of energy to burn. She is a small girl with a bit of an attitude. She can be a little vocal and does like to have the last say, but is learning what is expected of her. She is nervous around new people, but once she's learnt she can trust you, she is very affectionate and loves kisses and cuddles on the sofa and is always happy to see you and will be your shadow everywhere you go. She is an amazing walking companion. She absolutely loves her walks and exploring new surroundings. She is a little nervous of humans we have met on our walks, but amazing with other dogs. She will pull a little at first, but this soon calms. She travels well, but likes to be on the back seat rather than in the boot as she doesn't like to be too far away. She currently lives with 3 other dogs (of varying ages, size and breed) and gets on really well with all of them. She eats well and in the same area as the other 3, all at the same time and she loves to play. I absolutely believe that at least one other similar sized dog is a must for Roxy, not only as a companion and play mate, but to lead her and show her the way as she finds her new normal. She also currently lives with children (aged 8 and 12) and is absolutely fabulous with them. She adores them and is always excited to see them. Someone is usually home throughout the day, but she is regularly left up to 2 hours if we pop out. We do pop her into a crate whilst out for her own safety and she is absolutely fine with this. She is also crated at night time and sleeps well throughout the night. She loves toys and loves to chew them (possibly teething). She also loves cuddly toys and will carry them around with her. She is an opportunist, so if you leave anything on the work top or anywhere else, the likelihood is she will sniff it out and will attempt to eat it. She is very clever and knows how to sit and give paw. She also knows how to open doors if they have a proper handle. She is just about house trained. She knows what the outdoors is for and although we do let her out often, she hasn't quite worked out how to tell us she needs to go yet. So please bear in mind, she may have the odd accident at first whilst she finds her feet. Roxy will need to be rehomed locally to Derby, Nottingham, Burton or Chesterfield so she can be spayed by the rescue when she is old enough.
