ADOPT ME

Here is her foster-mum’s write-up…

“Myla is a really lovely Labrador who is turning 2 years old this month.

She was very nervous when she first arrived with us and especially of new people coming into the house or garden. She will bark but not aggressively at all, so we think it’s just nerves. This has been progressively easy to overcome with treats and encouragement and she is getting better over the short time she’s been with us.

Out of the property, she has not been as nervous and enjoys meeting new people and is very friendly on walks.

She is a lively lab who has clearly had very good training before she came to us.

She is very well behaved most of the time and totally house trained. If she gets the exercise she needs including play time ( she loves to run and fetch balls) she will happily chill/sleep for the rest of the time.

She loves cuddles, being with humans and also her soft toys which she carries around the house.

Myla needs 2 good walks a day, most of the time she is great on the long or short lead but will sometimes want to chase birds and squirrels. She loves other friendly dogs she meets on walks and can be excited but can be a bit nervous if they bark at her.

She loves water and will roll around in wet grass and go happily into streams which is helpful to get clean again.

She can back out of her collar if she wants to so we either connect the collar to a harness or use an anti slip collar so this is not a problem.

Her recall off the lead is fairly good in a secure area without distraction and she loves playing fetch with a ball. A 2nd squeaky ball does help with her recall training as well as treats.

She enjoys playing with friendly dogs and she has enjoyed playing chase with a friends smaller dog in our garden especially. She is also very happy to play on her own in the garden if you are outside too, she will chase butterfly’s, flys or just leaves. Therefore, I think she would be happy to live with or without dogs. I don’t think she would be able to live with cats although that’s untested.

She is crate trained and sleeps quietly though the night in the crate down stairs. She has only been left on her own for short periods in her crate with no problems but if left on her own around the house she will find things to play with, it has only happened once but she has chewed my glasses.

Myla is very good in the car and sits or lays quietly.

She is used to living with a child but she can be jumpy when she gets excited and when running around the garden she can be a bit clumsy so I feel she would need a resident child to be 8+.

Myla is in foster near Repton”.

Myla hasn’t been spayed yet so will need to stay local to Derby, Nottingham, Burton, Chesterfield or Stoke so we can arrange and pay for this to be done at a safe time in her season cycle.
