Scoob and Bear are now ready for adoption. Here is their foster-mum’s write-up…

“These adorable boys are Bear who is 4 years old and Scoob who is 7, although he seems much younger. They are a bonded pair who will need to stay together.

Scoob is nervous of new situations but soon settles down and when he trusts you is a very loving boy. Bear will just take everything in his stride and loves cuddles and attention from everyone.

They are very calm and well behaved most of the time at home and spend a lot of time asleep if they have been fed and walked.

They sleep brilliantly at night downstairs in a crate for at least 7.5 to 8 hours a night, (even in this heat). They have definitely been trained in the past and will do basic commands for a treat. They haven’t had any toilet accidents while here and will go and stand by the back door when they want to go out.

Scoob especially gets excited when we are going for a walk like most dogs but on our normal walks they both settle fairly quickly and are well behaved when out. They are more excited and pull more at the start of the walk in new places but it does settle down fairly quickly. We use front connecting non-pull harnesses which help.

We have been out twice a day for walks early in the mornings and later in the day due to the heat so have not met many dogs but they seem to like other dogs and this is what we had been told about them too.

They both get excited to say hello when people come to the house but then fairly quickly go and lay down again.

I would not give them soft toys as, although they love them, they will very quickly rip them up. They haven’t chewed anything else though.

They have only been off the lead in our garden where their recall is fairly good.

They have been left alone for short periods of time in a crate with no problems after a walk and they have also been left downstairs on their own while I have been doing jobs upstairs with no issues at all.

They get very excited to go in the car and Scoob will bark with excitement at first, but this soon stops and then they are fine.

They have not been tested with young children but I think children would need to be 10-plus.

They have not been cat tested but probably wouldn’t want a cat in the house.

They are in foster near Repton”.

The boys have had their first vaccination and will need to stay local to Derby, Nottingham, Chesterfield or Burton for their second vaccination and castration. Bear’s castration can go ahead quickly, but vets have advised that Scoob’s should be delayed for a while as he is still quite anxious in new situations. Neutering is obviously paid for in full by the rescue.

The boys came to us in sad circumstances, which we are happy to discuss with any potential adopters/applicants.
