Toby is now ready for adoption. Here is his foster-mum’s write-up…

“Toby is a gorgeous, affectionate six-year-old cockapoo who wants nothing more from life than to be your loyal best friend. He is happiest when he is by your side, giving you cuddles or enjoying lazy lie-ins together.

Toby has come from a loving home whose owners reluctantly made the decision to rehome him after he bit their toddler, with their enthusiastic attention presumably becoming too much for him.

He is fully trained, has been castrated, knows his basic commands, travels really well in the car and walks beautifully on the lead.

Toby does have separation anxiety and some guarding behaviour, so would need to go to a child-free home where he is the only dog and someone is at home most of the day.

He has not been tested with cats.

When he has human company he is generally very relaxed. He hasn’t been overly fussed about walks in his foster home, although it has been hot while he’s been living here so this may simply be down to the weather. He seems to be fine walking near other dogs.

He isn’t crate trained but this hasn’t been a problem at all in his foster home – he has shown no interest in stealing or chewing anything except his own toys.

He can have a sensitive tummy but this can be easily managed by ensuring he sticks to soaked kibble and keeping a close eye on him on walks to ensure he doesn’t sneak any cat poos!

Toby would be the perfect companion in a quiet home where he can get all the love and attention he deserves”.

Toby can go a little further afield as his vet care is complete.

Experience with resource guarding would be advisable, though he has been in a foster home with foster-parents who were dealing with this kind of behaviour for the first time and they have managed it perfectly (either ignoring or distracting depending on the situation).
