Bailey is ready for adoption. Here is his foster-mum’s write-up…
“Bailey is a 7-year-old Golden Labrador. He had lived with his owner most of his life but had then been passed to a couple of homes who could not cope with him and luckily for him he was surrendered to Yappy.
He is the most loving dog you could ask for, he loves cuddles and being wherever you are. He loves meeting people and is very friendly.
He is fully house trained no accidents at all. Likes his food as all labradors do but is not greedy, a food thief or a counter-surfer. He is happy to lay at the side of you while eating but will sit patiently in case he gets a treat.
He has several places to sleep but chooses to sleep in his bed near to us. He settles well at night and wakes around 7am.
He has been great with visiting grandchildren so would be able to go with a family with dog savvy children.
He has not had a lot of lead walking or dog socialising so we are working on this so any future adopters will need to carry on with this training. We have him on a Halti, which has helped but he needs to learn his manners with other dogs as he will bark and get very excited when meeting them . We have been meeting up with other dogs and can settle with them.
He can be dominant with other dogs especially if they have not warned him, but this should improve once he has been neutered by the rescue. We feel that his walking should be improved before this takes place, however, as he will need to be quietly lead-walked for a couple of weeks to help his recovery.
Bailey will therefore need to stay in our local areas of Derby, Burton, Nottingham, Stoke or Chesterfield for our vets. This will be paid for by the rescue.
He has only been off lead in a secure field but his recall could be worked on. He has been left for a short a while with no problems but like most rescue dogs needs to know you will be back.
He would not be suitable for a home with a cat as he wants to chase them”.
