Maxx joined us recently after being rescued from a Facebook selling page, posted by his new owners who didn’t realise how dogs are often passed around on such groups. We were tagged and offered him a safe space, which they thankfully accepted. They had only had him for two weeks and couldn’t keep him because he was too energetic for their older resident dog.
Maxx lived with two young children in that time and was said to be gentle and very well-behaved around them. He is, however, still very young and boisterous so children would need to be 6+ and dog-savvy.
Maxx would ideally be rehomed with a similar-sized dog to match his own energy levels. A neutered female would be ideal as he does seem to annoy the male dogs he has encountered both before and since coming to us. Maxx, to his credit, has never responded to any tellings off by them – but by the same token sometimes doesn’t learn from them!
On his walks, he is very strong on the lead but he is happy to meet anyone and everyone. He is housetrained, sleeps well at night and travels well. He was also a very good boy at the vets for his health check and gained a few fans while he was there.
Maxx is underweight at just under 25kg (at just 12 months old) so he will need building up a bit in his new home.
Homes will need to be local to Derby, Nottingham, Stoke, Leek, Burton or Chesterfield as Maxx will be on a neuter contract (paid for by the rescue at one of our vets) when he is old enough.
