Bayley is still looking for his forever home. He came back to us last year as his original adopter very sadly died suddenly. He went back to his foster home.
Bayley is now six years old but remains a very active dog who loves to be out walking more than anything. He does pull a little in his harness, especially initially so will need quite a strong handler, but does settle down after the initial excitement of being out. His recall is still a work in progress, especially if there are distractions.
Bayley can be left alone with no problems and he currently sleeps in the kitchen with two other dogs.
Bayley does like a fuss when he knows you, but trust does need to be built with him before he is happy to be stroked/cuddled.
Bayley does have a tendency to some guarding, though the only thing he has tended to guard in his foster home is his lead, including the drawer it is kept in (which can be managed re
by having two leads and alternating the use of each). He also could have the potential to guard his food in a new home, so feeding him separately and leaving him to it will be the best idea initially.
Bayley gets on well with other dogs and has always lived with at least one dog with no issues (apart from a little jealousy at times). To minimise any issues, we would prefer him to go to a dog-free home but we would not rule out a home with a resident dog as long as any potential guarding issues could be managed appropriately.
Bayley would suit a quiet but very active, outdoorsy home, with no children. Someone who loves walking would be ideal for Bayley.
Bayley is fully housetrained, well behaved for his groomer and a stunning looking boy who just needs someone to understand that he will be lots of fun, fabulous company on walks but not an overly cuddly dog who likes a lot of hands-on attention – especially for the first few weeks.
He is not cat tested.
Bayley is fully vaccinated and neutered so can go further afield for the right home.
He is such a lovely boy and we have had no issues with him at all while in foster or his adoptive home. All he needs is a committed and sensible home who will give him a little space while he navigates his new life. His foster family are so wonderful with him and there is no pressure from them at all to move him on, but he really needs a permanent home of his own.
Bayley’s foster home is on a farm where staff are in and out of the house all day, which isn’t the ideal environment for Bayley who really needs a quieter, less busy, forever home – although a rural setting would suit him perfectly.
We can’t understand why we haven’t been able to find a home for this gorgeous boy. We have rehomed dogs with much more significant issues than Bayley. He hasn’t even bitten or snapped at his foster family.
Bayley was sent to us after he had been bought on a selling site and had snapped at his new male owner within a couple of hours of going to them. He also snapped at a visitor in his foster home not long after he came to us as the visitor had gone into stroke him straightaway. Both bites were very superficial and didn’t need any medical treatment.
