Barney came from a Spanish kill shelter through an overseas rescue as a private adoption. Unfortunately, after only three days, Barney had a fight with a visiting dog and the family decided they didn’t want to keep him. Barney had been absolutely fine with the older, calmer, resident dog.
Barney is large Labrador type crossbreed and he’s estimated to be around seven years old.
Barney is great with people and loves nothing more than to lie on the settee his head on your lap, having his tummy being tickled. He loves his toys and walks round with his teddy bear, which he also snuggled up to at night.
Barney hasn’t lived with children so will need a child free or teenager only home.
Barney can be very reactive to dogs on his walks so will need a strong handler. He has, however, walked well with calm dogs and we believe with time and more socialisation he will drop his guard a little. He is currently in foster with one female, who has become the centre of his universe, so this may also be protective behaviour. He definitely seems to accept older, calmer dogs, though we think he would be better as an only dog to minimise the risk of any issues in his new home.
Barney can be left in the house on his own for a few hours with no problems and he loves going out in the car. He has been UK vet checked and was very well behaved, even when having his nails clipped.
