We are looking for a new home for Hunter, a Romanian dog who came to us as a puppy last October. He was adopted and all was well until a couple of weeks ago when just before my holiday I had a message to say he had to come back to us as he had bitten a visiting family member quite badly. The details are vague but what we do know is that while Hunter can be wary of new people (as with the majority of Romanian dogs) a bite was totally out of character for him. We know the person he bit was wearing some kind of hat/cap and believe this may have caused him to react so badly. The bite was to the face so we know he was very close to Hunter and I believe he felt cornered and threatened. Hunter is now back with his original fosters but we are wanting him to be settled in a permanent home as soon as we can.
Hunter is now around one year old. He would be best in a child-free home as he’s never lived with children. He has always been fine with visiting children. He’s good with other dogs and in so many ways I think another dog would be good for him, but he can be very full-on so another dog would also need to be young and high energy too. He has never been around cats.
We need a sensible home for Hunter with an understanding of the need to make him feel as safe as possible, to understand that when visitors are around Hunter’s needs and feelings are foremost. Experience with Romanian dogs would be perfect but by no means essential.
Hunter has so much love to give. He’s happy, cuddly and fun. He needs an active home and someone who really means it when they say he is part of the family.
